I started 3 years
ago with my very neat Nikon Coolpix 5700 which is a fantastic
little camera, I grew out of it within a year, and got myself
a manual SLR, a Canon EOS 300, which was fine for 35mm work
but I soon realised that I wanted the quality of a medium format
camera. I brought
a second hand Mamiya 645 pro with 6 additional lenses, a split
shift and huge fisheye (my favourite) lens’s. Along
with my bootie came 3 Metz 45 flash lights, quantum battery
pack, 3 Bowens Pro Lites plus many other bits and pieces, 5
tripods (all Manfrotto). The only thing left to get was my
trusty light meter a Sekonic flashmate L-308S. My darkroom
which is about 4ft by 3½ ft houses my LPL c7700 enlarger
and 3 tanks, in fact with some clever design I have managed
to create a very usable darkroom in a very small space, with
my extractor installed I can print up to 9 x 12 inch photos
which for me is perfect. On a good day I can produce
up to 30 prints (that is on a good day!) My bathroom
provides the necessary washing facilities. Last but not
least my new Canon 30d deserves a mention as it’s my
newest bit of kit and I love it, to round of my digital package
I print on an Epson R265 and with Hahnemuehle paper get very
acceptable results. My Epson Perfection 4490 Photo scanner
rounds of my toys quite nicely. It’s amazing how
far a student loan can stretch!!!! |
