artist's statement.
Photography is my way of putting
a visual experience to an emotional feeling and i'm always looking
for ways to express this in my contemporary fine art practice. I
am currently combining traditional printing practices such as mono
print making and digital printmaking to achieve mixed media work.
Traditional wet method black and white photographic printing and
digital photographic printing juxtaposed to cross boundaries and
produce unique limited edition prints. As well as producing prints,
I specialize in producing small hardback books which use both film
and digital imagery, using my own images I explore the themes of
emotion and sense of place.
My work is inspired by Susan Hiller
and Sophie Calle. I love the thought processes that Hiller goes through
and how it's visible in her work, the way she mixes her media and
pushes her boundaries is a real inspiration. I enjoy the dry sense
of humour that I see evident in Calle's work and it reminds me that
a sense of fun can come in many guises. The aim for my future work
is that I will continue to push myt boundaries and take my work into
un-chartered territory.
